Microtech Sponsors a trip to Ethiopia
Microtech has sponsored a local student, Steven Mills, on a trip to Ethiopia. Steven has written a letter to Microtech, following his trip and has included some photographs.
To all at Microtech,
I am writing to thank you for your support of my trip to Ethiopia in October of 2009.
The trip was aimed as a voluntary visit to a rural school outside of the small town of Gondar.
The trip was very informative and gave me a new found perspective on so many things. The time we spent in the school was very useful to the students. It was a chance for them to use the english language practically, and to learn about our culture.
The trip also gave me a chance to visit the capitol city of Addis Ababa. This showed the great diversity within the country and was an opportunity to see how trade and tourism on an international scale could cause rapid improvements in the general status of an area.
I also became aware of how technological advancements made in western society aided the development of new industries and improvements in healthcare and sanitation.
I feel my trip was a very enlightening experience and it has shown me how the development of industry in different countries can aid international understanding and standards of practice.
Thank you once again,
Steven
